SH1 Oteha-Silverdale resurfacing - allow extra time for journey and use alternative routes

Transit advises motorists that traffic is still heavy on SH1 heading from Auckland City between Oteha Valley Road and Silverdale and traffic on SH17 and East Coast Road is moderate. Traffic is free flowing on SH1 north of Silverdale after the roadworks.

ATTOMS traffic centre manager Mark Walker says, 'People should allow extra time for their journey home this evening as traffic clears throughout the peak and use SH17 or East Coast Road.'

Motorists should look out for electronic message signs and listen to radio bulletins for updates and alternative routes.

Alternative routes from Auckland City:

SH17 (at Albany Village)

  • From Auckland City take the SH1 Oteha Valley Road northbound off-ramp and turn left onto Oteha Valley Road to the intersection with SH17.
  • Motorists can also access SH17 by taking the SH1 Greville Road northbound off-ramp and continuing straight through the roundabout.

East Coast Road

  • From Auckland City take the SH1 Oteha Valley Road northbound off-ramp, turn right onto Oteha Valley Road and left at the traffic lights onto East Coast Road.

Transit thanks motorists for their co-operation and patience while this essential work takes place.
