New regional manager for Waikato/Bay of Plenty
Transit New Zealand has appointed Kaye Clark as regional manager for Waikato and Bay of Plenty.
Previously employed as Transit's Waikato/Bay of Plenty regional network operations manager, Kaye brings a sound understanding of regional transport priorities and challenges to her new role.
Prior to joining Transit in 2006, Kaye held a number of key roading roles in the Waikato, including roading group manager for Waikato District Council and operations engineer for Hamilton City Council. She also spent three years as a roading asset manager for Waipa District Council in the early 1990's.
Transit general manager transport planning, Wayne McDonald, says 'Along with being very well qualified and understanding Transit business, Kaye has built good relationships with the councils and other key stakeholders over the course of her career, which has primarily been centred in the Waikato.'
Kaye has strong links with the Bay of Plenty as well. She was raised in Tauranga, educated at Otumoetai College, and spent 18 months overseeing maintenance and route security for Bay of Plenty state highways in her previous role as Transit regional operations manger.
A member of the Institute of Professional Engineers NZ (IPENZ), Kaye holds a BE Civil with first class honours and an MBA (Executive) with distinction. She also sits on the Industry Advisory Board of the University of Canterbury Civil Engineering Department.
Kaye is looking forward to the new challenge of leading Transit's Hamilton regional office. She says, 'The upcoming establishment of the New Zealand Transport Agency and the updated New Zealand Land Transport Strategy makes this an exciting time for Transit and for our region, and I'm really pleased to be able to be part of it.'
Kaye officially took up her new position last week, after acting in the role since January when her predecessor Chris Allen joined the Hamilton City Council as General Manager Works and Services.
